We're seeking a Database Administrator to manage and support SQL Server databases on mission-critical high volume OLTP production systems. The ideal candidate will possess some database development background as well as current experience as a production SQL Server database administrator. The role requires a proactive and self motivated individual, who is willing to take an idea, groom it into a well defined user story, and see through the implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues
- SQL Server performance tuning, including analyzing query execution plans, SQL server profiling, index design and tuning, and index maintenance strategies
- Database backup management and recovery
- Database administration related projects, as needed
- Respond to critical and non-critical production alerts, and availability to be on an on-call rotation schedule to provide production support when critical issues arise will be required
- Create requested database objects and assist with production releases
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years SQL Server experience, with 2+ years SQL Server development experience, 3+ years in Database Administration
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related major
- SQL Server 2016 and 2019 experience required.
- Experience with Azure
- Extensive experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience optimizing queries and database objects, including advanced skills in index design and maintenance
- Experience with SQL Server Service Broker, SQL Server in a Windows Cluster environment, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
- Experience with encryption including TDE and Always Encrypted
- Experience with monitoring tools such as SQL Monitor, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Idera, System Center
- Excellent problem solving and effective research skills
- Dedication and willingness to work some alternative schedules as necessary
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team or independently
- Experience supporting enterprise level production systems in a fast-paced, high availability server environment
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in PostgreSQL is a plus
