Waste Connections of Canada the leader in non-hazardous solid waste management in North America has an opening for a MRF Operator in our busy Material Recover Facility in Kelowna, BC. We put our operators first and we work together by listening, removing barriers, and providing ongoing coaching and support.
We are looking for an individual whose experience and attitude aligns with our company’s number one value – Safety! The successful candidate will be trained on the operation of all systems within the MRF facility our district to cover wherever needed.

As a condition of employment, all new employees to safety sensitive positions must successfully pass a substance test within a two week period of their offer date.
Duties:
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Loading and unloading trucks with a forklift.
- Sorting and stacking of commodity bales.
- Cleaning baled materials and warehouse.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and policies according to company Safety Manual and OH&S Regulations.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and report any issues or items of concern found.
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
- Directing traffic in and around the material delivery areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience operating equipment.
- General mechanical aptitude/experience in basic daily maintenance of heavy equipment required.
- Safety conscious, able to work safely in sometimes challenging conditions.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to adapt to new situations.
- A criminal record check will be required.
