Position Summary:
The Mortgage Processing Specialist supports the processing of real estate loans from application through post-closing, helping ensure each loan moves accurately and efficiently through the lending process. This role prepares application documents for customers, orders required property documentation, gathers and organizes information needed for underwriting and credit approval, and assists with post-closing processes.
The Mortgage Processing Specialist works closely with loan officers to address loan documentation and compliance questions and applies a working knowledge of banking laws and regulations related to real estate lending. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while working independently and providing a positive experience for customers and internal partners.

What will you do:
Accountabilities
Mortgage Loan Operations
Responsible for various processes and activities involved in the origination and management of mortgage loans.
- Scan, index, and process closed loan packages upon return from settlement agents.
- Accurately prepare Home Equity Applications, Disclosures and Closing Document requests for an active Home Equity Loan Pipeline.
- Order required property documentation for home equity loans.
- Support the management of the Home Equity Loan Pipeline in partnership with lending team to ensure documentation is requested and received timely from the customer.
- Submit accurate and complete home equity files to underwriting to obtain credit approval.
- Monitor and file paid off loan files to ensure timely processing for long term storage.
- Assist with ordering property documentation for residential purchase and refinance applications.
- Process and monitor receipt of final title policies and recorded mortgages.
Quality
Follow guidelines, policies, and procedures of the bank in order to keep errors to a minimum to reduce internal and external friction.
- Comprehend and interpret mortgage compliance regulations. Proactively engage supervisor and staff with questions.
- Participate in department, bank and vendor provided training to develop an understanding of real estate lending documentation.
- Effectively learn and demonstrate working knowledge department processes and assist with review of team member work to ensure accurate production of real estate loan disclosures.
- Organize and maintain accurately indexed real estate loan files.
Partner with Others
Partner with others to ensure team goals are met.
- Participate in cross-functional training to support all areas within the department.
- Champion change management initiatives and serve as a role model for change in the organization.
Qualifications
Secondary education in related field preferred. One or more years of relevant work experience or a combination of education/experience that would enable incumbent to meet accountabilities and required competencies of the position.
