The Meteorologist forecasts weather conditions and produces and anchors weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.
- Produce and present weather/news reports for all platforms
- Ensure that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Write and deliver weather stories in a clear and concise manner
- Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content
- Respond to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent weather situations as required
- Available for extended shifts during severe weather season
- Work closely with other meteorologists to develop comprehensive weather coverage
- Participate in promotional activities including public appearances, community service events, and live newscasts
- Interact with viewers and users on social media sites
- The winning candidate will have a solid following on the web and social media
- Co-anchor the morning and noon newscasts – must be personable and have the ability to ad lib with co-anchor as well as read a teleprompter
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or certification in Meteorology
- Must be able to perform non-linear editing
- Proficiency with the Barron Radar system, and making creative graphics
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong understanding of the field of Meteorology and a proven track record of forecasting
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including some weekends
- Standing for extended hours during live broadcasts and events
