KBR is seeking a Modeling And Simulation Engineer with in-depth knowledge of satellite relevancy to Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community unique missions to be part of our team supporting our customer in Chantilly, VA that delivers mission-critical capabilities directly supporting intelligence-gathering missions from overhead systems.  We lead architectural assessments and report recommendations to senior US Government personnel guiding acquisition and execution of next-generation SIGINT systems needs for the next 10-20 years.  These systems deliver collected data distributed to US Government Intelligence Community and Military users.

The Modeling And Simulation Engineer serves as a technical advisor to support the Government with performing analysis on complex space systems needs for the intelligence and DoD communities.  The SIGINT leadership team embraces innovation in a relentless effort to meet intelligence needs and shorten the timelines to provide actionable critical information to US Government decision-makers.  This is a position of trust advising the US Government and supporting critical missions in SIGINT, COMINT, FISINT, and ELINT. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports mission analysis assessments and studies for the Program Office

  • Coordinates assessments of  architecture impacts, architecture trades, and architecture performance assessments with the Enterprise and Program Office

  • Manages development, test, and validation of systems assessment methodologies and tools such as STK, SOAP, MATLAB, and potentially organically developed software

  • Performs analysis of space systems, performance metrics, timelines, and models

  • Identifies and documents issues impacting both spacecraft and ground systems through objective analysis and processes

  • Provides pre- and post-algorithm implementation and process analysis and modeling

  • Provides support to verification and validation of algorithms including tuning, testing, and integration planning

  • Supports orbital analysis, including threats assessments/impacts, trades, and analyses

  • Communicates technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Interfaces with customers, directorate/office representatives, and across system engineering groups to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges

  • Generates and maintain technical documentation and reports

Basic Compensation:

$121,000 - $151,000 USD annually

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site

  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20% CONUS travel may be required

  • Working Hours: Standard

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current/active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)

  • 5+ years of IC experience

  • Detailed understanding of government satellite systems

  • Insight into SIGINT mission fundamentals, and ability to perform analysis on complex space systems

  • Knowledge of satellite relevancy to Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community unique missions

  • Solid understanding of Signals Intelligence satellite systems and architectures

  • Experience in Matlab, Python or similar
