KBR is seeking a Modeling And Simulation Engineer with in-depth knowledge of satellite relevancy to the Intelligence Community unique missions to be part of our team supporting our customer in Chantilly, VA that delivers mission-critical capabilities directly supporting intelligence-gathering missions from overhead systems.  We lead architectural assessments and report recommendations to senior US Government personnel guiding acquisition and execution of next-generation systems needs for the next 10-20 years.  These systems deliver collected data distributed to US Government Intelligence Community and Military users. The Modeling And Simulation Engineer serves as a technical advisor to support the Government with performing analysis on complex space systems needs.  This is a position of trust advising the US Government and supporting critical missions in multiple intelligence missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mission analysis assessments and studies for the Program Office.

  • Coordinate assessments to architecture, perform architecture trades, and conduct architecture performance assessments for the Program Office.

  • Manage development, test, and validation of systems assessment methodologies and tools such as STK, MATLAB, and potentially organically developed software.

  • Perform analysis of space systems, performance metrics, timelines, and models.

  • Identify and document issues impacting both spacecraft and ground systems through objective analysis and processes.

  • Provide pre- and post-algorithm implementation and process analysis and modeling.

  • Provide support to verification and validation of algorithms including tuning, testing, and integration planning.

  • Support orbital analysis, including threats assessments/impacts, trades, and analyses.

  • Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Interface with customers, directorate/office representatives, and across system engineering groups to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges.

  • Generate and maintain technical documentation and reports.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site

  • Travel Requirements: <10%, minimal, within the United States

  • Working Hours: Standard

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).

  • 5+ years of relevant modeling and simulation experience.

  • Detailed understanding of government satellite systems and designs.

  • Insight into operations mission fundamentals, and ability to perform analysis on complex space systems.

  • Knowledge of satellite relevancy to Department of War and the Intelligence Community unique missions.

  • Previous ground site experience with flight operations.

  • Experience in Matlab, Python or similar.

  • Ability to support a flexible work schedule.

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in engineering discipline.   

  • 6+ years of relevant modeling and simulation experience.
