Summary Generated by Built In

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay/Clearpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 47 million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world's relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.
Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We've been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.
The Team
As part of the Mobile Engineering team for Cash App Trust Client, you'll provide Cash App customers reliable, easy, and secure access to their accounts. As the Engineering Manager for the Identity and Transfers team, you will be personally responsible for the growth of the mobile engineers on this team; collaborating with your fellow product, design, and server partners on decisions that will directly impact this product; looking out at new technologies and evaluating how they could positively impact the way our customers interact with Cash App everywhere. Identity owns Identity Verification (through electronic or document upload), Product Limits and Eligibility, Source of Wealth and Source of Funds, and Transfers owns moving money in and out of Cash App. More broadly, Trust owns login, signup, account security, account controls and scam protection among other areas. These experiences and platforms are pivotal to Cash App customers as we strive towards economic empowerment.
You will

  • Manage and grow a team of product-focused mobile engineers.
  • Foster a human-centered culture that supports the team in growing together.
  • Provide both technical and career guidance for individuals on your team.
  • Create a tightly aligned and collaborative partnership between the client and server engineering teams, product, design, and product data science (e.g. shared roadmapping, prioritization, goals, etc.).
  • Contribute directly to quarterly and annual strategic plans.
  • Support the building of new, exciting functionality into an application designed to provide concrete value to our customers.
  • Own the growth, and maintenance of your product area.
  • Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions with your fellow partners on the team, and with other partners throughout the organization.
  • Continue building a world-class team through hiring, coaching, and ongoing development.

You have

  • 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers (including providing feedback, investing in career growth, and growing teams).
  • Very strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills in an environment where precision and nuance matters.
  • A focus on the design of products from a customer perspective. We are here to make their lives easier, and want to ensure we're putting our customers first through every piece of engineering.
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of yourself, your teammates, and our software.
  • An excitement for sharing your own ideas, and openness to the ideas of others.
