What you will be doing:
- Drive design and architecture for mobile/backend systems.
- Act as the primary technical expert for complex challenges, ensuring reliability and security.
- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and conduct rigorous code reviews.
- Contribute directly to development, delivering high-quality, maintainable code.
- Take full ownership of technical initiatives from design to successful deployment and oversee timely delivery.
- Collaborate with Product and Design to align technical roadmap with core business goals.
- Clearly communicate technical progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.
- Coach and mentor engineers to advance their technical skills and architectural understanding.
What our client is looking for:
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial.
- Minimum 8+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role (Engineering/Tech Lead).
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate engineering teams (ideally 5+ developers) while remaining a hands-on developer.
- Extensive hands-on experience in native or cross-platform mobile app development.
- Strong skills in designing scalable, maintainable, and performant mobile application architectures.
- Demonstrated experience integrating mobile apps with backend systems, APIs (including RESTful), and various third-party services.
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) or similar cross-platform development environments is a plus.
- Experience mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and championing technical standards, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and excellent communication skills for working effectively within distributed teams and influencing stakeholders.
