The MISA Sales team is currently seeking a Sales Representative up to Sales Manager level in our Houston, TX office. This position is responsible for managing the sales operations for assigned customers and/or managing sales support unit. Engage in selling/servicing and maintain/create relationships with customer to generate sales to ensure profit growth, expansion of product range. Find and maintain competitively priced sources for customers and key businesses.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Market various products/commodities/services to customers and develop and maintain good relationships with customers.
  • Markets various products/commodities/services to new business prospects by coordinating product/commodity/service introduction and market exploitation with marketing and sales initiatives to ensure maximum penetration of market segment.
  • Motivate sales staffs to achieve their goal. Analyze market trends to guide staff efforts to source and market highly competitive material by identifying opportunities to assist suppliers and satisfy customer’s price, quality and delivery requirements.
  • Supervise the daily activities of personnel engaged in providing sales/client support, i.e., invoices, purchase orders, import/export documentation and other relevant documentation. Coach, develop and review subordinates’ work for accuracy and adherence to prescribed guidelines, and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for all purchasing/sales/customer service functions for assigned customers and maximize potential sales and profitability of the business by negotiating price, marketing products, identifying customer needs and soliciting new business.
  • Collaborates with branch/division management in planning sales strategy of branch to exceed financial/budgetary goals.
  • Review accounting reports to monitor sales activity and perform financial analysis. Reports on sales activities to branch/division management as needed.
  • Contacts customers/suppliers frequently to answer questions, resolve problems, and provide guidance.
  • Monitors customer credit limits and manages/monitors inventory levels and movements. Maintains vendor/customer accounts ensuring timely payment and receipt of invoices.
  • Oversee and resolve distribution/logistics issues to fulfill legal requirements and customer’s requests.
  • Contract administration and contract management, including reviewing, negotiating, managing customer and supplier agreements and other related documents consistently to ensure compliance with laws and import/export regulations.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products. Coordinates and attends rejected material inspections documenting reasons given for rejections. Validates condition of material and determines best disposition to minimize losses either by re-sales and/or collection from insurance.
  • Review and approve all payment vouchers and invoices to customers. Review and approve monthly company charges including inventory insurance, personnel reports and others as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

General business knowledge including economics, management, accounting and marketing. Experience in steel trading practices, market pricing dynamics, and supplier/customer relationship management. Must have specialized knowledge of steel products, specifically flat products (hot rolled plate, hot rolled coil, cold rolled coil, coated coil, galvanized iron tubing and pipe, etc) and metal markets and sourcing. Experience working at steel service centers is highly preferred. Interpersonal skills including written and verbal communications. Organizational and multi-tasking skills to effectively handle several projects and customers at once.  Leadership skills to work with office personnel and supporting companies. Building mentor relationships and promoting proactive approaches.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 plus years’ experience in the steel industry (Preferred years of experience are commensurate with the level of the position)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • No physical exertion required
  • Required to sit for long periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Usual office working conditions
  • Travel required, both within the Houston area and to other locations including overnight travel
Pay Range

$65,000 - $130,000 (commensurate with the level of the position)

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate or annual base salary determined by experience and work location.

Non-exempt roles are required to receive time-and-one-half overtime for time worked in excess of 40 hours in a calendar week. Any time worked between 35 hours and less than 40 hours in a work week will be compensated at straight time (the current hourly rate) unless otherwise required by applicable law.

All positions qualify for our Incentive Compensation Plan.
