Marubeni-Itochu Steel America (MISA) is part of a global team trading in a wide range of steel products. The MISA team is currently seeking an Accounting and Administrative Coordinator in our Houston office. The Accounting and Administrative Coordinator will provide accounting and administrative support to the business unit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects and processes various invoices from vendors.
- Posts vendor invoices to accrued direct charges in SAP and issue Payment Instructions to effect payments to steel mills, freight forwarders, warehouses, etc.
- Inputs individual and department expenses into SAP and effects payments and intercompany transfers, as per Company’s expense policies (travel, entertainment, and conference expenses, etc.).
- Notifies vendors of payment status; may also communicate with them on outstanding invoices.
- Posts and clears incoming and outgoing payments in SAP, ensuring accurate application to invoices and proper reconciliation of debits and credits.
- Send Statement of Account to customers as needed.
- Produces routine and ad‑hoc reports through SAP, Excel, and in‑house ERP platforms.
- Provides general support for the month end closing process, which may include reviews of general ledger accounts and aging reports for outstanding items.
- Assists Sales and Traffic in overseeing accounts receivable and inventory status and credit limit utilization.
- Assists with contract entries into SAP and obtaining proper approvals from GM or a designated manager.
- Assists in posting purchases and sales into SAP with proper backup documents, as per accounting policies.
- Assists in monthly inventory reconciliations for inventories held at warehouse/processor.
- Applies for vendor and customer codes, to ensure timely system entries into SAP.
- Performs various general office administrative functions such as filing, travel arrangements, mail retrieval and distribution, company car maintenance, ordering kitchen & office supplies, arranging catering or office lunch reservations, etc.
- Monitors and oversees the office main phone line.
- Performs various support to GM, Sales, Traffic and Accounting as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience in Administrative support. Basic Accounting skills and knowledge. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) applications. Experience with SAP is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years relevant experience

- Usual office working conditions
$27.00 - $29.79 hourly rate
Compensation & BenefitsHourly rate or annual base salary determined by experience and work location.
Non-exempt roles are required to receive time-and-one-half overtime for time worked in excess of 40 hours in a calendar week. Any time worked between 35 hours and less than 40 hours in a work week will be compensated at straight time (the current hourly rate) unless otherwise required by applicable law.
