Ministry Assistants are responsible for coordinating and organizing issues related to operations of ministries, communicating with staff and congregants, and acting as a resource and assistant to the pastors/directors to whom he/she reports. Each ministry assistant plays a vital role in the accomplishment of ministry.
Responsibilities
- Provide turnkey administrative support as the ‘face’ of your assigned ministry.
- Maintain supervisor’s calendar and make appointments via email and phone
- Help maintain excellent communication between all departments within the church, as well as key members of the congregation
- Monitor ministry budget, process all financial requests, receipts, reimbursements.
- Order and maintain ministry supplies, resource/study books & other materials
- Duplicate, collate and distribute materials
- Plan and execute details related to special events, training programs, retreats, and meetings
- Create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations when needed
- Maintain confidential information related to the church, pastors and congregants
- Maintain and adjust web pages for the ministries served ensuring they are up to date, accurate and in keeping with standards
- Maintain accurate data related to the ministries served and assist with various database components
- Create and submit needed financial vouchers for pastors and ministry events in accordance with church policy
- Assist other ministry assistants with special events or tasks as needed or requested
- Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisors
- Attend weekly staff meetings, all church staff meetings and ministry retreats as requested
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and type for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Is a growing disciple of Jesus Christ, as evidenced by a consistent walk with Him
- Enthusiasm for ministering to the church body and a heart to serve
- A minimum of three years professional administrative experience, including significant skills in leadership, organization, and administration
- Ability to work on a team towards specific goals in a mutually edifying and supportive manner
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and flexible with late changes
- Works with little supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel; ability to learn website updating and database administration
- Relational ability to seek out, train, develop, and care for volunteers
- Open to constructive critique, correction, with a desire to learn
- Committed to a local church as evidenced by current involvement/activities
- A good fit with the Dripping Springs Staff and Austin Ridge Team
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
