Support on various mining optimisation/development projects and EHS.
To develop medium range and life of mine plans, by optimizing the known reserve potential
The Mining Engineer will report directly to the Mining and Resource Planning Manager, PM APAC.
Key responsibilities:
Develop 5 Years and Life of Mine plans from reserve models and business forecasts
Develops and responsible for all aspects of life of mine planning, reporting, development and execution of mine plans including mine safety, quality projection, equipment recommendation, volumetrics, resources, sequencing, scheduling and environmental considerations
Develop capital needs within mine phasing for medium range capital forecasting
Create Long term schedules for waste dumps, slimes dam, in link with geotechnical internal and external expertise
Involve and contribute strongly in TSF project in the region
Determine optimal heavy mobile equipment fleet based on production requirements, site specific conditions, ramp and bench configurations
Support mining optimisation projects from blasting to crushing
Conduct EHS and geotechnical internal audit/inspection
Assist in preparation of budgets and stripping planning / capital requests
Work with Sr. Operations Analyst and with Improvement teams
Other related duties as assigned by management
Actively manage and promote best practice in health, safety and environment to achieve statutory legislation and company policy
To train the sites engineers so that they develop their skills in mine design, short term and mid term mine planning, and finally become able to create and update mine plans
Promote action plans to continuously improve staff, workforce and contractors commitments towards a zero accident culture
- BS degree in mining (preferably) or geological engineering
- Preferably 5 years supporting a mining operation
- Operations experience a plus
- Fluent in english (written and spoken)
- Demonstrated high proficiency of MS Access & MS Excel
- Good knowledge of GIS and survey software
- Proven ability to learn and effectively use Mining design, mining plan, mining scheduling software (Surpac, Xpac, Haulsim or related)
- Proven ability to establish positive relationships with existing workforce
- Conducted one’s self as a champion for change and demonstrated success in supporting a continuous improvement culture
- Proven ability to be an integral part of a mining management team
- Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and facilitate work through peers, superiors, and subordinates
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with different timelines
- Committed and autonomous. Organized and rigorous, pay attention to details
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management & cultures
- HSE culture
- Flexible to undertake business travel both domestically and internationally to support delivery of projects.
