Cambria’s internship program is a 12-week experience that successfully exposes interns to business need projects, professional development, assigned mentors and Cambria leaders.

The Research and Development department is looking for a Mining Engineering Intern to join their team in Le Sueur, MN!

Position Summary:
The Mining Engineering Intern at Cambria will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment at the company’s Cambria Crushing Site in Le Sueur, Minnesota. As part of the Process Technology team, the intern will be responsible for completing project-based assignments under the guidance of a mentor. This seasonal internship offers valuable exposure to various engineering tasks, including project management, technical documentation, equipment analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will actively contribute to enhancing mining operations, while developing skills in engineering, problem-solving, and communication. This position provides a comprehensive learning experience in mining process technology, with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete and present a capstone project related to department business needs. This will include research, analysis, and presenting the overall findings and suggestions to peers and Cambria Leaders. 

  • Manage and complete multiple engineering projects with the mining group

  • Create presentations and documentation for the operational team including SOPs

  • Learn how to prepare capital expenditure requests and route to the appropriate people for approval.

  • Learn how to create and follow project time lines using Microsoft Project.  

  • Learn how to create technical documents such as Project Scope of work, and Project close-out documents.

  • Learn how to compare functionality and price when investigating new equipment options.

  • Work to continuously improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of projects.

  • Develop ideas and solutions to production problems as they arise at the facility.

  • Provide support for projects as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. 

  • Maintain a positive and energetic interface with all staff members, provide direction as well as be a leader and teacher at all times

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Demonstrated level of confidentiality and professionalism 

  • High computer proficiency (SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project.)

  • Strong statistical/math skills, and ability to utilize spreadsheets  

  • Scheduling and Organizational skills    

  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints with the assistance of a senior engineer. 

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels in the company.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Ability to meet project deadlines and work under pressure.

  • Ability to work varying and extended hours as needed. 

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's program in Engineering or a related program. Expected graduation date of 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Experience: Some experience in a related field preferred
Systems: Microsoft Office, Google Suites, SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project

Additional Requirements:
Managerial Responsibilities: No
Travel Requirements: Limited travel locally (Eden Prairie, Le Sueur, and Belle Plaine)

Physical Requirements: 

  • Lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Stand on feet for extended periods of time

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by Cambria

  • Participate in daily stretch and flex exercises

  • Occasionally work in wet and/or humid conditions

  • Bend over multiple times throughout shift

Program Dates: May 19, 2025 - August 8, 2025; M-F; 40 hour work week

Cambria’s hourly rate for this position is $18. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The rate displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hires for the position. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training
