Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will provide mining engineering and related technical expertise to Barr’s multidisciplinary project teams. Work may include assisting mining clients with implementation and development sequencing, ore blending, overall mine technical reports (pre-feasibility and feasibility), whittle optimization, development and operations scheduling, economic analysis, and report writing.
This person will provide technical expertise as well as support management of projects involving both metal and non-metal mining.
Other responsibilities such as business development or relationship development, project management, project planning and scheduling may also be a part of this strategic role. This person will serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers, helping them develop their technical and project management skills by reviewing technical reports, providing guidance on analyses, and overseeing their financial and client management on projects. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mining, geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering or a related discipline

15 years of related experience

Proficiency with mine modeling software such as Whittle, Surpac, Minesight, Vulcan, Deswik, or similar

Demonstrated leadership skills

Demonstrated project organization and management skills

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients

A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:

20 years of related experience

Mine operations and/or development and planning experience

Professional Engineering (PE) or Qualified Person (QP) certification or ability to obtain within one year
-
Established network with mining and development clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client service
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; or Denver, Colorado, offices.

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $140,000–$160,000/year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
