Position Summary
The Mineral Processing Engineer will be responsible for the operation and optimization of magnetic separation processes to ensure efficient recovery of valuable minerals (Feldspar) and consistent product quality. The role involves technical leadership in Safety, process development, troubleshooting, equipment performance evaluation, continuous maintenance, continuous improvement, and reporting within the Magnetic Separation Plant.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & Control
Monitor, and optimize magnetic separation circuit to achieve target recovery, grade, and throughput.
Prepare and follow KPI’s (Key performance indicator reporting)
Analyze plant data and identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce losses.
Develop and implement control strategies for magnetic separators and ancillary equipment.
Lead the plant team (~20 blue collars)
Organizing the shifts to work efficiently
Organizing the deliverables transportation (Feed purchasing and Sales)
Optimization and control of the stocks (Feed and Finished Goods)
Data acquisition through PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) / SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) knowledge
PO (purchase order) creation on currently used Logo/Tiger database system
Adaption for future SAP adaptation (SAP experience is plus for candidate). Fully dedicate himself to adapt from transition to SAP from currently used Logo/Tiger database to SAP.
CER (Capital expenditure request) creation on currently used system (Finario)
ILC (Imerys Learning Center) participation to all “must” and additional courses.
Preparation of the Magnetic Plant Separation unit Manuel as a guideline.
Full Participation to GPI (General Performance Indicator), ISC (Industrial Score Card), EMM (Environmental Maturity Matrix), SCMM (Safety Culture Maturity Matrix), 1DSA (1-day self-Assessment) works.
Learning and start reporting on Enablon (Imerys Corporate) System
Technical Support & Innovation
Support the commissioning, calibration, and operation of magnetic separators (WHIMS- wet high intensity magnetic separation).
Evaluate new technologies (i.e. Flotation) and equipment for improving separation performance.
Conduct mass balance, data analysis, and scale-up studies.
Operational Support
Provide technical guidance to production teams for troubleshooting and process adjustments.
Ensure consistent process performance and quality control of concentrates and tailings.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare detailed production and performance reports.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process control documentation.
Participate in safety, environmental, and quality audits related to mineral processing operations.
Laboratory leading.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering
Minimum 1–3 years experience in mineral processing, preferably in crushing, screening, magnetic separation, or similar beneficiation operations.
Strong knowledge of mineral processing operations
Strong knowledge of Laboratory and Laboratory equipment’s (XRF readings, Lab. Tests)
Proficiency with plant data systems and metallurgical accounting tools.
Familiarity with process modeling and simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Competencies
English (speaking/reading/writing/understanding) as a 2nd language
Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams (Finance, Purchasing, Sales etc).
Hands-on approach to plant optimization and problem-solving.
Excellent organizational and reporting skills.
Work Environment
Plant-based role involving time both in office and in the processing plant.
May require shift or on-call availability depending on plant operations.
