• Days and Shift Information: Nonnegotiable 12-hour swing shifts; must be willing to work days and nights. PTO after 40 hours – guaranteed 48 hours / 8 hours of overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain heavy-duty forklifts (Taylor lift), yard vehicles, and equipment.
• Comply with all Safe Job Instructions (SJIs), training requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.
• Receive and inspect inbound loads, complete paperwork, and supervise unloading personnel.
• Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup, verify product integrity and counts, and ensure proper trailer/container loading.
• Maintain inventory controls, keep a clean and safe work environment, and report any hazards or issues to the supervisor.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work all day except when in the truck. The mill is part of Nucor Corp, the largest scrap metal recycler in North America. Minimal advancement opportunities (next step is foreman).

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred (can train with experience).

Experience:

• Experience operating heavy-duty forklifts (Taylor lift) is required; knowledge of yard operations and equipment preferred.

Personality Traits:

• Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, cooperative with supervisors and coworkers, and able to handle physically demanding work.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk around trucks and inspect fluids and conditions.
• Climb up and down 5 steps for truck ingress/egress up to 12 times per 12-hour shift.
• Hook/unhook airlines for trailers up to 75 times per 12-hour shift.
• Dismount truck and position wood dunnage weighing up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Steer and stop truck and trailer weighing up to 90,000 lbs during 12-hour shifts.

Pay/Benefits/Perks

• 17/hr
• Accrue up to five days PTO in first year. Two weeks vacation, plus one week PTO accrue on first anniversary.
