We are looking for a seasoned Senior Middleware Engineer who has built a strong foundation in traditional middleware platforms and is eager to expand further into containerization and cloud technologies.
This role sits within a global infrastructure team supporting enterprise-scale FinTech systems. You will work closely with engineers across Manila, the US, and Europe to maintain and modernize middleware platforms running across on-premises and AWS environments.
If you are strong in WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, or similar technologies — and have started working with Docker or Kubernetes — this role offers the opportunity to deepen your cloud and automation expertise in a supportive, global team setup
Responsibilities
Administer, support, and optimize middleware platforms such as WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, and Apache in Linux environments
Support containerized middleware deployments using Docker and Kubernetes (training and upskilling supported)
Contribute to middleware modernization initiatives as applications transition toward AWS-based environments
Automate provisioning, configuration, and patching using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Chef)
Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
Monitor system health and performance using tools such as Datadog and Splunk
Troubleshoot production issues and participate in a rotational on-call schedule
Contribute to platform stability, documentation, and operational improvements
Participate in 24x7 support rotations and incident response to maintain continuous service availability.
Qualifications
5–7 years of hands-on middleware engineering experience (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, or similar)
Strong Linux systems administration experience (RHEL/Unix)
Practical exposure to Docker and basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts
Experience working with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, or similar)
Familiarity with scripting (Bash, Python) for automation
Exposure to AWS infrastructure is a plus
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP)
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Willingness to support rotational on-call schedules and collaborate with global teams.
Continuous learner with a proactive mindset toward automation and cross-training.
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools
Exposure to monitoring and APM tools
Experience supporting middleware migrations or cloud adoption projects
