How you succeed
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Middleware Application Support Engineer to join our Middleware team. The primary focus of this role is to maintain and support middleware applications, ensuring all components are consistently patched and up to date to mitigate vulnerabilities. The role will also drive automation initiatives to streamline patching processes and maintain comprehensive tracking of middleware obsolescence across the entire inventory.
What you do
1. Middleware Maintenance & Support:
Support existing setup within the bank across multiple middleware components.
Function as Level2 support specialists to investigate incidents, providing expertise in identifying root cause, workarounds and resolutions
2. Patch Management:
Manage and coordinate patching cycles for all middleware components, ensuring timely application of security patches and updates.
Assess patch impact and coordinate testing and deployment with minimal disruption to business operations.
Maintain detailed documentation of patching schedules, applied patches, and compliance status.
3. Automation & Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to automate patching workflows and related maintenance tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Develop and maintain scripts, tools, or automation frameworks to support patch deployment and reporting.
Collaborate with other teams to integrate middleware patching into broader IT automation pipelines.
4. Obsolescence Management:
Track and maintain an up-to-date inventory of all middleware components and versions.
Identify obsolete or end-of-life middleware products and coordinate upgrade or replacement plans.
Provide recommendations to management on middleware lifecycle and risk mitigation strategies.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
Generate regular reports on patch status, vulnerabilities addressed, and middleware health.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of middleware configurations, patching procedures, and automation scripts.
6. Performance Requirements:
Highly analytical with strong understanding of the IT fundamentals and general knowledge on Enterprise IT
Able to provide onsite support outside regular hours as required
Positive attitude towards continuous learning. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Work under minimal supervision & take ownership of Middleware incidents end to end.
Who you are
Bachelor's Degree.
Middleware administrations certifications in Weblogic, IBM MQ, Websphere and JBOSS will be added advantage.
Minimum 5 years of work experience.Proficiency in managing and administering various middleware components like Weblogic, WebSphere, JBOSS, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, IBM MQ, WebSphere Plugin.
Strong understanding of High Availability architectures and implementation. Hands-on experience in clustering, load balancing and failover management, security, logging, auditing and TCP/IP networks.
Proficiency in scripting languages and automation would be highly advantageous.
Experience in management and automation platforms like Bigfix and Tanium desired.
Proven problem solving and analytical skills. Result driven with a positive can-do attitude.
