Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Position Summary
Working from the Duluth, GA office, the Middle School Program Coordinator at Georgia Connections Academy is a 12-month employee school-level leader who will serve on the Middle School Leadership Team. They will support the school in driving academic and cultural outcomes for students and serve as a resource for teachers regarding student achievement, attendance, behavior, and academic integrity. Additionally, the Middle School Program Coordinator will plan and implement programs designed to increase student academic achievement.
All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to:
- School and department meetings,
- Student engagement opportunities,
- Required training/development,
- School-level events, such as state testing and graduation.
This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification and GAPSC educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program.
- Must have received a rating of Effective or Highly Effective in the most recent performance reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid teaching Georgia PSC certification and educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program.
- Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably as a teacher or coach.
- Preferred experience leading a department.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional best practices.
- Commitment to student success and teacher support.
- Must receive manager recommendation.
- Possesses a positive customer service attitude in interactions with all stakeholders.
- Flexible and willing to provide and receive constructive feedback.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel).
- Must be able and willing to conduct and participate in collaborative meetings, professional development sessions, and events at the GACA office and/or other locations as needed.
- The applicant should be prepared to attend events and meetings at the GACA office in Duluth, as well as travel to meet with students in different regions of the state throughout the year.
- Partner with the Middle School Principal and Assistant Principals to address day-to-day school operations and present a unified leadership team.
- Support the school’s efforts to meet state and federal achievement targets, with a focus on identified student subgroups.
- Lead and manage Content Area Teams by:
- Analyzing student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Collaborating with Department Leads, Instructional Coaches, and district staff to develop and implement instructional plans
- Monitoring the effectiveness of instructional practices and student outcomes Oversee curriculum and instructional programming by:
- Ensuring strong Tier 1 instruction and implementation of interventions
- Supporting the referral process for Tier 2 interventions
- Leading the implementation of instructional materials and resources
- Using data to design targeted support plans for students and teachers
- Monitor and evaluate academic programs (e.g., Avenues of Hope, RTI) to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking student performance, engagement, and growth, including metrics such as attendance, grading, and LiveLesson participation.
- Coordinate and support student engagement opportunities throughout the school year.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan in collaboration with staff and stakeholders.
- Facilitate and support collaborative team structures, including action/learning teams and vertical planning.
- Observe, supervise, and evaluate staff in accordance with district policies, including
- Support high-quality instruction through classroom observations, modeling, coaching, and feedback.
- Assist with school operations, including planning, organization, and oversight of programs, policies, and procedures.
- Promote a culture of high expectations, accountability, and support for students and
- Lead and manage the Middle School Summer School program, including staffing, student placement, progress monitoring, and promotion/retention decisions.
- Assist with teacher recruitment and hiring.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Principal.
