Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide small group and individual instruction to students identified as needing literacy support.

  • Develop and implement evidence-based literacy interventions aligned with NYS Learning Standards.

  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, including reports for parents, teachers, and administrators.

  • Support classroom teachers with professional development in literacy instruction and differentiated strategies.

  • Participate in staff meetings, parent conferences, and school-based literacy initiatives.

  • Promote a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field.

  • NYS teaching certification preferred (Literacy, Reading, or related content area).

  • Knowledge of evidence-based literacy programs and interventions.

  • Strong assessment, instructional, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families.

Compensation
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Non-Certified Teacher): Starting salary $48,500

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Certified Teacher): Starting salary $50,500

Salary may increase based on experience, additional certifications, and advanced degrees.

Preferred Qualifications
  • NYS Literacy Specialist or Reading Specialist Certification.

  • Experience providing literacy interventions to diverse student populations.

  • Knowledge of assessment tools, RTI (Response to Intervention), and differentiated instruction.

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

Working Conditions
  • Classroom, small group, and pull-out instructional settings.

  • School environment following NYS Education Department guidelines.

  • Occasional after-school meetings, professional development, or parent conferences.
