Job Summary:
The mid-level mechanical consultant completes mechanical design with little direction or input from supervisor/ mentor from project start through Construction Administration on a project of average complexity.
Responsibilities:
In this role the primary role is to work on mechanical design with little direction or input from supervisor/ mentor from start to finish and through Construction Administration on a project of average complexity.
- Understands code requirements and properly applies them to the project.
- Seeks feedback/ validation on design decisions.
- Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply designs of increasing complexity.
- Perform individual aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects.
- This is inclusive of, but not limited to the following:
- HVAC – Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water Hydronics, Steam/Condensate, Constant volume and variable volume air distribution systems.
- Plumbing – Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent systems, Compressed air systems.
- Fire Protection – Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and dry pipe systems.
- Understands and implements cross-discipline coordination both internal and External.
- Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work.
- Sees the mechanical construction of the project through completion; RFI’s owner/ architect/ contractor meeting attendance, submittals, construction observation site visits and reports.
- Performs appropriate field work to determine a design direction and develop record drawings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
- Certifications/Registrations: Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
- Experience: 2-8 years
Other Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/ HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Able to work in the United States.
- Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
- Work independently and in a team environment

- 2-8 years of mechanical engineering experience
