Overview of the Position

As a part of the Pro-Life Generation, Students for Life of America is looking for a Middle-Level Gift Qualifier. The Mid-Level Giving Officer is responsible for managing a caseload of 300-500 donors in the $1000 to $1,999 giving range to increase donor retention, solicit increased giving, and determine their readiness and potential for a major gift caseload.  

The qualification process will be conducted through an 8-10 step cycle aimed at having as many virtual meetings as possible where you can get to know the donors and ask a series of qualifying questions. 

The goal is to have 2-4 virtual meetings per week (15+ minute conversations scheduled or impromptu). In addition, the Mid-Level Giving Officer will communicate with their list of donors to try to set up in-person meetings for the major gifts team as they travel throughout the nation.  

This individual will deal with important external stakeholders, as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload. Extreme organization skills and attention to detail are required for this position.  This position works under the direction of the Senior Philanthropy Manager to enhance and support the overall mission of SFLA.  

Responsibilities 

  • You will be responsible for meeting your metrics goals through a series of donor touches that include calls, emails, and letters. 

  • Complete donor research to develop solicitation strategy and follow pre/post meeting protocol, gift pledge reports, and incoming revenue.   

  • CRM management   

  • Pulling lists of donors for mailing, emailing, and calling.    

  • Executing comms channel adjustments before and after tour meetings.    

  • Running reports.   

  • Regularly uploading notes, tags, and other markers to donor records. 

  • Donor Meeting Scheduling 

  • Minimum of 200-300 “donor touches” per week including calls, emails, texts, & letters with at least 50% being phone calls. 

  • Manage donor meetings in Outlook calendar.  

  • Drafting and editing templates of written communications to donors for development staff.   

  • Presenting at virtual meetings by video call and phone.  

  • Christmas card writing for donors. 

  • Research and tracking capabilities.

  • This is a full-time salaried position working at least 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours can be somewhat flexible by request.  

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • The Middle-Level Gifts Qualifier will report to the Mid-Level Gift Team Manager and will have no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum requirement. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.   

  • Candidates must have knowledge of grammar rules and utilize the oxford comma.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team and to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Mid-Level Gifts Officer will report to the Senior Philanthropy Manager and will 
    • collaborate with multiple departments within Students for Life, without direct supervisor responsibilities. 

Physical Demands

  • Must have the ability to operate technical equipment such as a computer and sit for extended periods of time.  

Travel

  • Travel to bi-annual team trainings in January and July is required (if applicable).  

Work Authorization 

  • Must be able to successfully complete an I-9.  The I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
