Microsoft Modern Work Engineer (Azure)

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Modern Work Engineer (Azure) with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure infrastructure, Azure networking, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows Server, Active Directory, server migrations, and hybrid Microsoft environments.

This is a project-focused engineering role responsible for designing, building, upgrading, migrating, and supporting Microsoft infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. The successful candidate should be comfortable building infrastructure from the ground up, executing server and application migrations, upgrading customer environments, and independently delivering scoped technical work.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft engineering experience and has progressed beyond day-to-day administration into infrastructure implementation, migrations, modernization, advanced troubleshooting, and project delivery.

Experience with Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations is highly valued. Experience with PowerShell, FSLogix, Quest migration tools or comparable migration solutions is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.

Azure Infrastructure & Networking

• Design, build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
  
• Deploy, configure, and support Azure Virtual Machines, including new VM builds and infrastructure upgrades.
  
• Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking, including Virtual Networks, subnets, Network Security Groups, routing, connectivity, and related infrastructure components.
  
• Design, deploy, support, and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
  
• Support Azure storage, compute, identity, networking, and related infrastructure services.
  
• Implement and maintain appropriate Azure access controls, security configurations, and governance.
  
• Troubleshoot infrastructure availability, performance, networking, and connectivity issues.
  
• Support on-premises-to-Azure and hybrid infrastructure modernization projects.
  

Windows Server & Infrastructure

• Build, configure, administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
  
• Perform server migrations, server upgrades, and infrastructure modernization projects.
  
• Install, configure, migrate, and upgrade applications running within Windows Server environments.
  
• Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory Domain Services.
  
• Configure and support Group Policy and DNS.
  
• Support integration between Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
  
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  

Azure Virtual Desktop & Endpoint Environment

• Implement and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
  
• Assist with AVD infrastructure builds, configuration, migrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  
• Support Windows endpoint modernization and cloud-managed device environments.
  
• Configure and support Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, application deployment, and endpoint security.
  
• Implement and support Windows Autopilot where required.
  
• Support FSLogix environments where applicable.
  

Microsoft Entra ID & Hybrid Identity

• Design, implement, and support Microsoft Entra ID.
  
• Support hybrid identity environments integrating Active Directory Domain Services and Microsoft Entra ID.
  
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Entra Connect Sync.
  
• Implement and manage Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), authentication methods, and identity security controls.
  
• Support Microsoft Entra Join and Hybrid Microsoft Entra Join environments.
  
• Troubleshoot authentication, identity synchronization, access, and hybrid identity issues.
  

Microsoft 365 & Tenant-to-Tenant Migrations

• Support Microsoft 365 technologies, including:
  
• Exchange Online
  
• SharePoint Online
  
• OneDrive for Business
  
• Microsoft Teams
  
• Microsoft Entra ID
  
• Microsoft Intune
  
• Participate in and deliver Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration projects.
  
• Support tenant consolidation and migration of Microsoft 365 workloads where required.
  
• Assist with migration activities involving Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, identities, devices, and endpoint configurations.
  
• Work with migration solutions such as Quest or comparable migration tools where applicable.
  
• Troubleshoot technical issues before, during, and after migration projects.
  

Project Delivery & Technical Engineering

• Independently execute scoped technical work orders and project assignments.
  
• Build infrastructure from scratch based on approved designs and project requirements.
  
• Upgrade and modernize customer Microsoft environments.
  
• Perform server builds, migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and application installation or upgrade activities.
  
• Work closely with project managers, project coordinators, technical engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects successfully.
  
• Take ownership of assigned engineering tasks from planning and implementation through testing and completion.
  
• Provide advanced technical escalation support related to the engineer's areas of expertise.
  
• Troubleshoot complex issues and conduct root cause analysis.
  
• Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation procedures, migration documentation, and operational standards.
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft engineering experience across Azure, Windows Server, cloud, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking and infrastructure.
  
• Demonstrated experience building and supporting Azure Virtual Machines.
  
• Hands-on experience implementing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
  
• Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server environments.
  
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with server migrations and infrastructure upgrades.
  
• Experience installing, configuring, migrating, and upgrading applications within Windows Server environments.
  
• Strong experience with Active Directory Domain Services.
  
• Strong understanding of Microsoft/Azure infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  
• Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure integrating Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
  
• Working knowledge of Group Policy and DNS.
  
• Experience working in a project-focused engineering environment, including independently executing defined technical scopes of work.
  
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently own technical issues through resolution.
  
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  

Highly Preferred Experience

• Hands-on Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration experience.
  
• Experience with tenant consolidation and migration of Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, identities, endpoints, or Intune configurations.
  
• Experience with Quest migration tools or comparable Microsoft 365 migration platforms.
  
• Hands-on PowerShell experience for administration, automation, troubleshooting, reporting, or configuration.
  
• Experience with FSLogix, particularly within Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
  
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
  
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Connect Sync, Conditional Access, and MFA.
  
• MSP, consulting, professional services, or multi-client project experience.
  

·         Microsoft/Azure certifications are not mandatory. Relevant certifications are considered an advantage, but proven hands-on engineering and project experience will be prioritized.
