Microsoft D356 F&O Senior Finance Consultant

Your role, your impact

As a Senior Finance Consultant, you’ll play a critical role in delivering expert-level functional consulting services across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), with a focus on core financial management, management and cost accounting, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting. You’ll leverage your finance and accounting expertise to design and implement solutions aligned with client business requirements, control objectives, and Alithya’s established delivery methodologies.

Your ability to lead finance discovery, translate complex accounting requirements into effective D365 F&O solutions, advise clients on financial and manufacturing costing best practices, and mentor consulting teams will directly contribute to successful implementations, client confidence, and delivery excellence.

Your day-to-day

• Design end-to-end finance functional solutions addressing complex accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements using D365 F&O;

• Lead and facilitate finance business process discovery and requirements workshops with CFOs, Controllers, accounting teams, and other finance stakeholders;

• Perform gap analysis between client financial processes and D365 F&O capabilities and recommend appropriate solutions;

• Configure D365 F&O finance modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash & Bank Management, Budgeting, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, and Tax, and validate configurations to ensure accurate and GAAP/IFRS-compliant financial results;

• Advise clients on manufacturing costing strategies including standard costing, weighted average, moving average models, etc., and support catch weight financial configuration;

• Design financial reporting solutions using Management Reporter, SK Global, Power BI, and Excel, and advise clients on finance roadmaps and reporting capabilities;

• Review solution design, develop functional design documents (FDDs), and support custom developments, integrations, and financial reporting solutions;

• Design, develop and execute SIT and UAT scenarios, and coordinate finance data migration activities, including chart of accounts, balances, transactions, fixed assets, and project balances;

• Perform business and systems requirements analysis for multi-legal-entity, multi-currency, and multi-country financial environments, and serve as a trusted advisor on finance and system best practices;

• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level consultants, support issue resolution and governance activities, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain strong client relationships throughout project delivery.

Keys to your success

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field;

• Minimum 4 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, including at least 3 years contributing to or leading full life cycle implementations;

• Strong implementation experience across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash & Bank Management, Budgeting, Project Accounting, Manufacturing Costing, as well as in multi-legal-entity, multi-currency, or multi-country financial environments;

• Manufacturing industry experience with a strong understanding of standard costing, production variance analysis, work-in-process (WIP) accounting, and inventory valuation;

• Strong experience with finance data migration, testing, reporting, and functional design documentation;

• Strong understanding of financial accounting, compliance, reporting, and GAAP/IFRS principles;

• Ability to manage multiple finance workstreams, facilitate discovery sessions, present complex finance concepts to operational and executive audiences, and maintain current knowledge of D365 F&O capabilities, accounting standards, and finance technology trends

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.

Extra edge

• CPA designation or Controller-level finance and accounting background;

• Experience with food & beverage, protein, particularly catch weight, or specialty chemical manufacturing clients;

• Experience with Microsoft D365 Finance Insights, cash flow forecasting AI, Customer Payment Predictions, and Subscription Billing, Management Reporter, SK Global, Power BI, and advanced Excel reporting solutions;

• Experience leading or mentoring D365 F&O consultants, contributing to implementation methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting North American clients.
