Job Responsibilities:
  • Plans and directs the utilization, maintenance and use of all machinery, equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results.
  • Be responsible and accountable for meeting KAMTEK and departmental objectives.
  • Responsible to address and solve all customer related problems and concerns, both internal and external.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of KAMTEK, Inc.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with other departments as well as conduct all business activities in a professional manner.
  • Participate/initiate in continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Capable of implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program on Die Casting tooling. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling and follows up on PM and tracking sheets.
  • Capable to perform Die Casting design reviews, direct tooling changes, and review layouts for compatibility.
  • Troubleshoots for problems during production on all production lines.
  • Modifies Die Casting tooling to conform to engineering changes.
  • Responsible for all in-house tooling, coordinating all new tooling equipment.
  • Responsible for interim and long-term problem-solving involving Die Casting automation.
  • Coordinating all customer engineering activities as it relates to tooling, engineering quotations, schedule change in Die Casting, follow up, tracking time used for cost-effectiveness, and record keeping for all such changes.
  • Responsible for working with customers on all product improvements and product concerns.
  • Lead and direct apprentices and toolmakers on day-to-day work to be performed on tools and Die Casting tooling skills development.
  • Tig & Mig welding as needed
  • Work to blueprints, CAD data, sketches, and verbal instructions
  • Support and train Die Casting team members Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues and lessons learned.
  • Assist with PM inspections as required, complete with all repairs.
  • Minimize downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts and external contacts. Participate in all Magna and Kamtek required training.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with other departments as well as conduct all business activities in a professional manner
  • Participate / initiate in continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Promote, participate and implement Lean activities as they are introduced such as 5S, Kanban, PDCA's and Standardized work.
  • Ensure the improvement of Die Casting Department KPI's by participating in the tracking and enhancement measures that are implemented.
  • Participate in the recruiting process for Die Casting Tooling Department personnel .
  • Monitor and maintain good housekeeping following 5S standards and participating in 5S walks.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Must possess working knowledge and understanding of the die cast process and tooling
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must possess working knowledge and understanding of quality systems, standards, and procedures
  • Must have strong team-focused, interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as required to meet external and internal customer requirements
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Must possess good human relations, leadership skills, and a maturity of judgment
  • Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds, walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
KNOWLEDGE:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required; 2-years degree from accredited technical college preferred, or equivalent experience.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: Journeyman Certification
OTHER: Computer skills; Basic in Microsoft Word and Excel
