Roles and Responsibilities:
The Controls Engineer will provide support, leadership and direction to the Maintenance Technicians and perform controls function for the Assembly Maintenance Department. The Controls Engineer will support and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given them by the area Manager. The Assembly Industrial Engineer works on compliance and Continual Improvement projects as it relates to Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Cost. Implements Continual Improvement projects, leads teams in Ergonomics and Safety processes as well as improves Work, Walk and Wait opportunities. Coordinates and plans flow improvements in material storage areas and streamlining all Non-Value Add activities. Maintains and drives Continual Improvement activities for Assembly department with focus on Up-Front engineering design and day to day Lean Manufacturing process improvements. Utilizes latest in technology and Best Practices to achieve World Class operating production systems.
Essential Functions:
  • Plans and implements improvements within the Assembly Department related to the specific controls systems.
  • Supports Manufacturing Engineering in the development of standards and specifications, including a complete purchase parts list related to controls systems.
  • Provides technical support for controls systems during the introduction of new equipment. Supervises the assembly and installation as well as assemble and installs new equipment and is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
  • Robotics troubleshooting on robots.
  • Electrical circuit troubleshooting.
  • Pneumatic troubleshooting.

Position Requirements:
  • Understanding of production scheduling and inventory control
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 13 or higher.
  • Basic understanding of 8D, FMEA, APQP and SPC.
  • Basic understanding of standardized work and kaizen activity.
  • Ability to achieve results using Industrial Engineering methods, Lean Manufacturing/TPS tools, and Six Sigma analysis.

Work Experience/Education:
  • Technical Assoicates Degree preferred or equivalent automated manufacturing experience required. Allen Bradley, RS logix, and Device Net Controls systems knowledge
  • minimum 5 - 10 years Automotive controls engineering experience.
