What You Will Do

We are excited to be opening our new distribution facility in Merrillville, IN using state of the art technology while minimizing our carbon footprint. Our 400,000 square foot facility will serve as one of our global shipping hubs responsible for meeting the demand of our customers internationally.

As a Quality and Environmental Health and Safety Manager (QEHS), you’ll champion continuous improvement in quality, environmental standards, and safety, striving for zero defects and harm. You’ll develop QEHS systems that exceed organizational and customer expectations while aligning with standards. You’ll lead team members by communicating effectively, planning strategically, and appraising performance. Additionally, you’ll analyze data to resolve quality issues and EHS incidents, driving corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring comprehensive training for new hires and site-specific safety protocols. Key responsibilities include:

  • Quality Improvement
    • Analyze data for effective root cause solutions, ensuring closed-loop corrective actions are implemented.
    • Facilitate quality improvement projects (e.g., Six Sigma).
    • Collaborate with product teams to meet customer requirements and write procedures to assess system effectiveness.
    • Drive efforts to reduce product and process variability and associated risks.
  • Quality Planning
    • Develop systems that meet standards and exceed stakeholder expectations.
    • Bridge strategy and tactics, ensuring adherence to budgets and using KPIs to drive performance.
    • Identify technical training needs and teach quality methodologies.
    • Serve as local expert on industry standards (e.g., ISO 9000, TS16949) and ensure clear communication of product and manufacturing requirements.
    • Write and implement department strategic plans and oversee staffing.
  • Quality Control
    • Diagnose nonconformances and recommend corrective actions.
    • Calibration and reproducibility of measurement systems.
    • Conduct audits.
    • Provide monthly performance reports and analyze quality and safety incidents, ensuring compliance and effective incident management.
  • Employee Management and Development
    • Support growth of team members.
    • Ensure SMART goals align with department objectives, identify future leaders, and mentor employees while managing talent reviews and succession planning.

What You Will Bring

  • Required Degree: BS in Technical Field (Engineering Preferred).
  • Required Certificate(s): ASQ CQE, CRE, CMQ/OE or SSBB.
  • Preferred Certificate(s): Certified Safety Professional or technical equivalent. Qualified quality, safety and environmental auditor.
  • Experience: 2+ years of QEHS Manager experience; 3-5 years’ experience in quality or EHS.
  • Knowledge of QEHS standards and quality management practice.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influence skills across various levels of operations.
  • Organizational and project management skills, acting as a leader, facilitator, coach, supervisor, mediator, team player and change agent.
  • Experience with charting, spreadsheet, statistical analysis and data mining programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
