Your Impact
The Pricing Manager plays a critical role in shaping category success by elevating pricing from execution to strategic leadership. By combining strong business acumen, analytical rigor, and influential partnership, this role drives measurable improvements in profitability, growth, and customer value while strengthening the connection between Pricing, Promotions & Credit and Merchandising.
The Pricing Business Partner Manager is a strategic partner to Merchandising, accountable for managing across all pricing levers inclusive of Base, Promotions, Markdown, Pro Pricing, and Credit, across the full product lifecycle for their assigned area to deliver profitable sales growth. This role serves as the trusted strategic pricing advisor for a Merchandising Vice President and primary point of contact for assigned merchandising division from the Pricing, Promotions & Credit function, shaping category strategy and influencing outcomes through rigorous analytics, strong business acumen, proactive recommendations and compelling data storytelling.
As the pricing subject matter expert (SME), the Pricing Manager partners closely with Merchants to translate category strategies into integrated pricing plans that drive growth, profitability, and customer value. Leverages advanced analytics, market intelligence, and AI-driven tools to optimize pricing decisions, automate and streamline execution of the aligned on strategies to drive business performance. The role blends strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and people leadership to proactively solve problems, influence decisions, and continuously improve pricing effectiveness.
What You Will Do
- Strategic Pricing Leadership
• Lead the development and execution of holistic pricing strategies across base, promotional, markdown, Pro pricing,
and credit that align with category strategies, customer expectations, and financial goals.
• Serve as the primary pricing partner to Merchandising, owning the end-to-end pricing agenda for assigned
categories.
• Shape and influence the medium- to long-term pricing vision and roadmap, ensuring pricing supports sustainable
growth and customer value. - Merchant Partnership & Influence
• Act as a trusted advisor to Merchants, providing strategic guidance on pricing trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.
• Influence key decisions through data-backed insights, scenario analysis, and clear recommendations.
• Align pricing strategies with promotional, assortment, and lifecycle decisions to maximize category performance.
• Actively solicits feedback and ensures our team is taking the initiative to make enhancements to learn from merchant
and customer feedback for continued evolution and impact.
Analytics, Insights & Decision Making
• Leverage advanced analytics, AI-driven tools, and financial modeling to assess pricing effectiveness and recommend
clear, prioritized actions.
• Evaluate and interpret AI and automated pricing recommendations, applying business judgment to ensure alignment
with category strategy and long-term objectives.
• Deliver actionable insights, not just analysis, clearly outlining implications, options, and recommended paths forward.
• Simplify complexity by streamlining analyses and processes to help partners move faster and make better decisions.
• Regularly proactively share pilot test and broad deployment ideas & opportunities to merchant & finance. Drives a
data driven "test and learn culture that iterates recommended actions across pricing lever based on interpreting
data and combining that with a deep understanding of the business area, merchant goals and role of the category. - Lifecycle & Performance Management
• Manage pricing across the full product lifecycle, from introduction through end-of-life, including initial starting price,
markdown optimization and exit strategies.
• Monitor performance against KPIs, identify gaps, and proactively course-correct to deliver margin, sales, and
customer outcomes. - Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
• Partner closely with Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Pro and Technology teams to deliver
integrated pricing solutions.
• Provide functional expertise, independent project leadership, and guidance on complex or ambiguous initiatives.
Team & Capability Development
• Lead, coach, and develop pricing associates to build analytical capability, business judgment, and influence skills.
• Identify & implement ways we can move faster by simplifying processes, streamlining, automating, prioritizing and
removing roadblocks.
• Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of new tools, methodologies, and best practices within
Pricing.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 Years Experience in Pricing, Data Analytics, Finance, Omni-channel Retailing, or related pricing and promotion field. Experience working in cross-functional teams, data elements or financial metrics analyzes
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ Years Experience in Price Management, Merchandising, Financial Planning and Analysis, Store Operations, or Logistics. Experience as a Lead Merchant and/or Pricing Lead in an omni-channel retail environment. Experience working in cross-functional teams, leadership with direct report responsibility, data elements or financial metrics analyzes
- At least 1 year of experience working closely with senior leadership (VP and above)
- Experience in the Home Improvement industry
