Supply ChainJob Summary:
As one of North America’s largest industrial consumers of natural gas, the Manager, Natural Gas is a critical member of CF’s Supply Chain organization. On both a daily and forward basis, this individual is responsible for procuring, managing price risk exposure and ensuring reliable supply of natural gas to CF’s manufacturing facilities within their area. In this highly visible role, the Manager, Natural Gas also provides analytical support to CF’s management team and other stakeholders.
Job Description:
Natural Gas Acquisition, Management & Administration
- Negotiates both short term and long-term natural gas supply contracts consistent with projected production plans, in compliance with CF policies and procedures.
- Acquires natural gas on behalf of CF, including both physical natural gas and financial derivatives (swaps, options). Negotiates supply contracts, oversees the nomination process as needed and purchases/sells natural gas to balance pipelines accounts.
- Acquires natural gas transportation and/or storage capacity, as needed. Obtains transportation capacity from pipelines or from other shippers in the secondary market.
- Continuously monitors cost, usage and tariffs to meet CF’s goal of low-cost, reliable supply of natural gas for its facilities.
- Develops for review long-range strategic plans for future sourcing, transportation and storage agreements.
Energy Contract Administration
- Reviews CF’s natural gas master agreements (NAESBs, GasEDIs) including pursuing negotiating new master agreements, as appropriate.
- Reviews natural gas and transportation invoices for approval/payment, and helps resolve disputes, as needed.
Analysis & Reporting
- Regularly informs CF’s management team about current and projected energy market developments.
- Provides various CF departments with updates on current/projected market price, supply/demand and other gas market developments.
- Assists with the preparation of various presentations to internal stakeholders, senior management, and CF Board of Directors.
- Assists CF Finance team with reconciliation of financial reporting, including MTM analysis of natural gas financial derivatives, as needed.
Successful Incumbents Will Have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain or a related field; Master’s degree highly desirable.
- Years of experience: Minimum of five years of operational and/or commercial experience within the energy industry. Direct natural gas scheduling experience considered an asset.
- Experience with Energy Risk Management software (Allegro, OpenLink) highly desirable.
- Well-developed planning and analytical skills.
- Personal computer literacy and proven spreadsheet analysis skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of managing both internal and external client relationships
- Ability to meet deadlines and function effectively in a deadline-oriented, team environment.
- Willingness/ability to travel domestically and internationally ~10% of time (typical trips last 2-3 days) as well as work non-traditional workdays.
- Capable of working independently and exercising appropriate discretion and judgment.
- Knowledge or interest in the agricultural and/or clean energy sectors considered an asset.
