About The Position
The Manager is responsible for the direct leadership of gas meter engineering personnel. This includes ensuring that all designs are compliant with Company policies and standards, and state and federal regulations. Responsibilities include managing the gas meter testing plans, new measurement product evaluation, and gas AMI module testing. In addition, they will direct the work of the Ameren Illinois gas and electric meter shops to assure an adequate supply of meters, gas correctors, instrument transformers, test instruments, and protective rubber goods to all AIC operations, and to assure that all handling, testing, repairs, and calibration of these items is performed safely and in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, and Ameren requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage, train, and evaluate meter engineering personnel and coordinate their work with gas operations, customers, and other Ameren departments.
- Manage and coordinate the design, engineering, and project coordination for the maintenance and construction of the gas metering system with an emphasis on safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. Perform long-range planning activities for these metering systems.
- Provide technical support to meter shop operations, gas operations, other departments, customers, and outside organizations.
- Monitor compliance activities. Serve as the metering's primary contact with Ameren staff and the ICC during annual inspections/audits, SOX compliance and other inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual metering budget and the operations and maintenance budget.
·Contribute to the development and implementation of IL Metering, division, and function goals. Identify and implement improvements in division operations to control costs and improve productivity.
- Operate and directly manage personnel at the two Ameren Illinois gas and electric meter shops: Located in Decatur and Peoria.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers through personal contacts, purchasing forecasts, and manufacturing/testing facility audits.
- Monitor, order, and maintain inventory, and coordinate shipping to ensure an adequate supply of meters, rubber goods, instrument transformers, correctors, and support material to Illinois operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited University required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License preferred. Seven or more years of relevant engineering experience required. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Familiarity with meter and associated equipment types, functions, application, installation, and testing; and Ameren rates and billing preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proficiency with MS Office Suite required. Knowledge of specific Ameren systems (e.g., DOJM, Gas Planning System, Budgeting System, etc.) preferred.

Compensation Range:
$128,700.00 - $199,500.00
At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
