The Manager of Finance will play a key role in supporting financial and strategic functions at CSX. This role will perform detailed analysis of operating and capital expenditures, develop strategies based on financial research, create and analyze financial reports, and guide senior leaders to make sound business decisions in both the short and long term. Prior railroad experience is not required.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of short- and long-term forecasts, plans, and strategies. Measure performance of business units/company versus plan, provide updated forecasts and variance explanations. Develop action plans, as appropriate, to address identified issues, and drive implementation of action plans
  • Aid in the consolidation of financial results and forecasts for consumption by senior leaders, executives, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key business partners to facilitate turning financial information into tangible actions
  • Analyze key business issues including commercial and operating proposals, business segment profitability, and marketing and pricing initiatives
  • Develop and utilize financial models to quantify benefits and drive sound economic trade-off decisions related to alternative commercial or operating strategies
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and communication between and across departments
  • Leverage past experience to coach, train, and develop peers and junior-level Finance employees
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 4 or more years of experience in of full time work experience required, including at least 2 years in a Finance role with responsibility for the financial analysis of key business issues including capital expenditures, business segment profitability, and productivity initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in at least 4 years in a Finance role with responsibility for the financial analysis of key business issues including capital expenditures, business segment profitability, and productivity initiatives

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with internal and external resources in developing and implementing decision support tools
  • Experience interacting with Executive Level Leadership
  • Proven track record of delivering solutions that have had measurable financial impact
  • Demonstrated increases in scope of analytical and/or management responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts, processes, and modeling
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously as well as work independently and with diverse teams

This role offers an annual salary range based on experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary we provide an annual bonus opportunity.
