Job Descriptions:

You will be responsible for the development and management of the Process Engineering Department reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and executing process engineering strategies that drive process capability, cost reduction, and operational excellence across complex manufacturing processes, focusing on CNC machining, programming, and associated processes.

This role is accountable for reducing process variation (Cp/Cpk improvement), lowering cost per unit, improving programming capabilities, and building strong engineering teams through technical leadership, coaching, and structured problem‑solving. Success in this role requires a balance of hands‑on technical depth, statistical rigor, and people leadership in a high‑mix, precision manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process Capability & Variation Reduction
    • Own and continuously improve process capability (Cp/Cpk) across assigned manufacturing processes.
    • Lead root cause analysis for yield loss, excursions, rework, and scrap using statistical and structured problem‑solving methods (SPC, DOE, 8D, DMAIC).
    • Standardize and sustain robust process windows, control plans, and reaction plans.
    • Partner with Quality to define and enforce process controls aligned with customer and internal specifications.
  • Improve CNC Programming Capabilities
    • Develop and maintain a multiyear CNC programming transformation roadmap
    • Assess current tools, programming maturity, skill levels, and workflow gaps
    • Establish Siemens NX as the standard programming platform for multi-site network
    • Put systems in place to ensure programs are robust, efficient, and production ready
    • Capture and standardize machining strategy knowledge for reuse
  • Cost Reduction & Productivity Improvement
    • Drive cost per process reduction through cycle time improvement, tooling, & consumable optimization
    • Partner with Maintenance with preventive maintenance optimization
    • Lead value stream focused on improvement initiatives targeting scrap, rework, downtime, labor content, and consumables.
    • Quantify savings and present clear business cases for improvement projects.
  • Technical Leadership & Problem Solving
    • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex manufacturing and process issues.
    • Lead cross functional teams (Operations, Quality, Equipment, Supply Chain) to resolve high impact problems.
    • Guide process development and qualification efforts for new products, new tools, or transferred processes.
    • Ensure engineering decisions are data driven, statistically sound, and risk aware.
  • Engineer Development & Talent Growth
    • Develop process engineers’ capability in:
    • Statistical methods (SPC, MSA, DOE)
    • Process characterization and validation
    • Structured problem solving
    • Cost modeling and business justification
    • Coach engineers on how to think, not just what to do—building ownership and decision-making maturity.
    • Establish clear expectations, development plans, and technical skill matrices.
    • Foster a culture of standard work, documentation, and continuous learning.
  • Standardization & Governance
    • Define and deploy process engineering standards (documentation, reviews, qualification criteria).
    • Follow Silfex procedures for a structured evaluation and implementation of Process changes, New Products/Processes, Recipe/tooling modifications, or supplier changes
    • Support long term capacity, equipment, and technology roadmaps with data-based recommendations.
    • Manage department budget, prioritization, and critical deliverables of the team to meet the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
