Overview & Responsibilities
The position of Methods Engineer exists to provide technical and administrative direction in the form of meeting all of the Elliott Company's manufacturing needs. This position is also responsible for generating all departmental C.N.C. programs and assists with route sheet creation.
This position also leads and or participates in fostering manufacturing techniques pertaining to reducing part cost and increasing part quality.
Background and Experience
Educational requirements must include five years' experience in manufacturing, manufacturing processes, shop floor control, graphics based C.N.C. Programming and computer assisted Route Sheet generation. Additional skills required would include the ability to motivate and administrate Bargaining Personnel and possess good communication skills as well as analytical capabilities and problem-solving techniques.
Nature of the job
This is a line and support position. The line position activities are associated with controlling and coordinating all production activities. The support functions deal directly with the development and implementation of all C.N.C. Programs and the Computer Generation of Route Sheets.
This position is also responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a multi-functional department. Additional responsibilities include the execution of training programs(s), development of new manufacturing process to reduce cost, and cost reduction.
Supervision
This position functions occasionally in a supervisory position in the event of an absence. This position leads and directs Bargaining Unit Personnel.
Specific Job Responsibilities/Competencies
Responsible for all activities pertaining to departmental machining operations.
Directs and controls activities such as: shop floor manufacturing, CAD/CAM interface, C.N.C. Programming, and computerized Route Sheet Generation.
Assist machine operators in trouble shooting when needed.
Generates the C.N.C. Programs required for production requirements.
Generates the Route Sheets required for production requirements.
Generates the Tooling Orders for all fixturing required for production requirements. And also, by assisting tool designers in predesigning the fixtures.
Generates Tool Requisitions for all non-HI-LO items.
Assists Product Engineering in solving quality/manufacturing/design problems.
Manage and coordinate efforts to eliminate the root causes for monitoring and controlling scrap and rework costs.
Monitors safety problems and promote a safe work environment.
Administers a program of good housekeeping in all areas of responsibility.
Monitors and controls ISO 9000 requirements were applicable.
