Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Subject Matter Expert to join our team at our Caswell manufacturing facility. This is a key role responsible for maintaining, enhancing and supporting our MES environment while working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and IT teams.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with an understanding of manufacturing operations, helping to optimise production processes, ensure system reliability and compliance, and play a leading role in future MES development and transformation initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesMES Management & Support- Act as the primary technical expert for the site's Manufacturing Execution System.
- Configure, maintain and support the existing MES environment to ensure high availability and reliable performance.
- Work with IT and Engineering teams to integrate MES with enterprise systems, including ERP and other manufacturing platforms.
- Ensure disaster recovery (DR) processes are maintained and tested annually.
- Provide expertise in PROMIS architecture, including BOMs, routing structures and Datalink scripting.
- Lead troubleshooting activities and coordinate resolution of MES-related issues.
- Analyse manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through MES enhancements.
- Implement system changes that improve productivity, traceability and data integrity.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Deliver training and guidance to production and operational teams on MES functionality and best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for user support and enhancement requests.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver system improvements.
- Ensure MES configurations comply with applicable quality and regulatory standards, including ISO requirements.
- Support internal and external audits through accurate documentation and change control.
- Maintain comprehensive records of system updates, configurations and workflows.
- Stay informed of emerging MES technologies and industry best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend new capabilities that enhance manufacturing performance.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience implementing, configuring and supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems such as PROMIS, Siemens Opcenter or Camstar.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows.
- Experience with scripting and automation, including DCL or similar technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
- Experience within semiconductor manufacturing.
- Knowledge of OpenVMS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience integrating MES with ERP, PLC or other manufacturing systems.
- Familiarity with PROMIS DataLink scripting, BOMs and routing architecture.
- Experience with web services (Apache, IIS), C#, ASP.NET and JavaScript.
- Understanding of SOAP, REST or PROMIS-TP APIs.
- Strong SQL skills across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Git and IT service management tools.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
