To support the scale-up of its quantum hardware roadmap, Alice & Bob has built a dedicated cleanroom facility in the Ile-de-France region for the fabrication of superconducting quantum devices. This facility will significantly increase wafer fabrication capacity and accelerate process development, device iteration, and learning cycles.
This position is part of the Foundries & Process Integration team within the Quantum Hardware & Infrastructure department.
We are looking for a hands-on “Senior Superconducting Process Data & MES Integration Engineer M/F” to deploy, configure, operate, and continuously improve a commercial Manufacturing Execution System (MES) supporting our quantum chip fabrication, packaging, and characterization activities.
This role combines MES technical ownership, equipment and data integration, and superconducting fabrication process data analysis. The successful candidate will translate complex superconducting device process flows into MES logic, integrate tools and data sources to enable full lot/wafer/chip data traceability.
The role is particularly suited for someone with experience in superconducting material fabrication, thin-film deposition, Josephson junction fabrication, device characterization, and data-driven process improvement in an R&D or prototyping environment. The position will act as the technical owner of the MES within Alice & Bob’s chip manufacturing and characterization ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and customize a commercial MES solution across existing and future fabrication, packaging, and characterization tools.
- Translate superconducting quantum device fabrication flows into MES routings and traceability structures, and evolve them as processes, material stacks, design rules, and equipment capabilities change. Superconducting Fabrication & Characterization Data Analysis
- Analyze fabrication, electrical test, and cryogenic characterization data to identify process variability, tool effects, drift, yield limitations, and failure modes.
- Correlate process conditions with superconducting material and device performance, and propose data-driven improvement plans. Equipment Integration, Maintenance & Data Acquisition
- Design and implement APIs, scripts, file-based interfaces, and database connections to integrate existing and future equipment with the MES, including tools that do not support SECS/GEM.
- Configure the MES to extract and store critical equipment/process data, and implement preventive and usage-based maintenance tracking, including tool status, alarms, counters, and maintenance history. Manufacturing Data, Dashboards & Traceability
- Build dashboards and reports for process monitoring, equipment performance, yield, variability, and engineering investigations, ensuring traceability at the lot, wafer, chip, process-step, equipment, and test-result levels.
- Identify, investigate, and manually correct erroneous or inconsistent MES/database entries when operator-filled information is incorrect, while maintaining clear documentation of corrections. User Training & Support
- Train and support MES users across process integration, nanofabrication, packaging, characterization, test, and operations teams.
- Provide day-to-day troubleshooting, documentation, user guidance, and act as the main technical interface with the MES vendor for upgrades, integrations, configuration changes, and issue resolution.
Requirements
- Engineering, Master or PhD. degree in Physics, Materials Science, Micro/Nanofabrication, or a related fields.
- 3+ years of experience on semiconductor or superconducting circuits nanofabrication in an R&D or prototyping environment.
- Strong understanding of fabrication process flows ****in superconducting devices or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Hand-on experience with MES configuration, equipment/data integration, APIs or scripting, SQL databases, equipment logs, and data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, or equivalent.
- Comfort with R&D fab constraints: rapid iteration, experimental splits, frequent process changes.
- Experience building dashboards or reports for engineering and management audiences.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with process, fabrication and characterization engineers, operators, software teams, and external vendors.
- Aubervilliers (Île-de-France)
