At Sax Advisory Group, LLC we are driven by our ability to turn every client’s dream into a reality. We are a forward-thinking multi-disciplinary accounting, tax, and advisory firm serving the needs of closely held companies, family-owned businesses, not-for-profit entities, government, and high-net-worth individuals. We are dedicated to providing an environment that offers growth, stability and advancement opportunities, in a team member driven culture where contributions are recognized and rewarded. We have everything you need for a dynamic career!
We are currently hiring a full-time Mergers & Acquisitions Manager with a specialization in Operations Diligence & Integration to join our expanding team! This position reports directly to the M&A Director and is primarily remote within the U.S., with required travel to acquired offices as needed and occasional in-person meetings at our New York City and/or Parsippany, NJ (HQ) offices.
SAX is on its way to the Top 50 (Top 0.1%) in the Accounting and Advisory industry and has recent growth capital fueling an accelerated inorganic growth strategy. The goal for the team is to create a streamlined M&A process from seller introduction to integrated firm. Your role is to help focus on the diligence and integration piece, rolling out solutions applicable for any size acquisition across geographies.
The Mandate
Lead the operational diligence and integration efforts by assessing how the target firm operates, documenting current processes, designing the future state, and driving the integration plan with defined ownership, timelines, and clear communication. This is a hands-on, player-coach role that requires both attention to detail and the ability to think strategically several steps ahead. Prior experience in accounting firm operations is preferred but not required.
What you’ll do
Operational diligence (LOI → close)
• Rapidly map as-is operations: technology, org, workflows, SLAs, systems (practice management, time & billing/WIP/AR, client onboarding, scheduling, QA, IT, HR/benefits), controls, and pain points.
• Define the to-be operating model with Day-1 and 30/60/90 outcomes and a pragmatic cutover plan.
• Identify risks, gaps, dependencies; estimate effort and sequence the critical path.
• Maintain a clean data room and diligence tracker in DealRoom.
Integration management (close → stabilization)
• Communication and Cadence for the plan, the owners, the milestones; hold weekly workstreams; manage RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and escalate early.
• Deliver weekly status reporting to leadership; keep cross-functional teams aligned and unblocked.
• Execute Day-1 readiness, system/process cutovers, and “business-as-usual” handoffs.
• Define the Transition Services Agreement; design cutovers and interim controls accordingly.
Internal improvements (between live deals)
• Tighten the M&A playbook: improve diligence questionnaires, integration templates, and checklists. Incorporate the latest AI functionalities.
• Lead process improvement projects within the M&A team and across strategic firm initiatives.

What success looks like

• Controlled cutovers and handoffs; stable client delivery and team retention post-close.
• Demonstrable margin lift vs. baseline (tracked, not promised with hard public targets).
Qualifications
• 6-9 years total experience delivering cross-functional change in ops/consulting/strategy/PMO.
• 1–3 years in accounting-firm operations (practice management, engagement workflow, time & billing/WIP/AR, client onboarding, QA).
• Passion for process, operations, and detail.
• Ability to work seamlessly across functional departments; the glue between them.
• Proven multi-workstream program leadership (plan, RAID, critical path) and crisp executive comms.
• Tooling comfort: integration and KPI tracking in DealRoom.
• Bias to action, clear thinking, low-ego collaboration.
