Your job

At OpenUp we are focussing on the preventive care, what means that we don’t do diagnosis, but we are there for the day-to-day struggles, such as work related problems, relationships issues, self confidence, purpose of life and lots more! 

OpenUp is open 6 days a week: for planned video consults and spontaneous consults via video. We guarantee short term availability and accessibility. We believe that that minimizes the barriers people experience to work on their mental health and because we know that emotions don’t do waiting lists.

As a Host, you will be the first line of support for our users, providing guidance and resources to enhance their mental well-being. You will drive user engagement, manage chat groups, and collaborate with our Product team to improve the user experience.

Primary responsibilities:

  • For a lot of people you are the first contact point for OpenUp. Being user friendly and giving them a warm welcome while providing support is the most important responsibility in the role.
  • Being available for people contacting us through phone, chat, and email.
  • Answer technical support questions and guide new users to the right resources. You are an expert of our product and what we can offer.
  • Provide 1:1 support for mental well-being challenges through the app's chat function and via phone.
  • Manage and drive user engagement in chat groups (Rooms) within the app.
  • Educate users on mental well-being topics and promote our offerings, including masterclasses, group sessions, self-guided care, and one-on-one sessions.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product team to enhance user experience and design new features.
  • Analyze data to improve support services.
  • Update FAQs on the website and collect new FAQs from user interactions.
  • Maintain a self-managing team environment, f.e. by coordinating with team members to independently fill the team schedule.

Goals and outcomes:

  • Effectively support users facing mental and physical well-being challenges.
  • Increase user activation and engagement within the app.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our support services and user experience.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to our team leads for online psychologists.
  • Collaborates closely with the Product team and other stakeholders.


About you

You are motivated to work in a fast-paced startup environment. Your values align with OpenUp's mission, openness to cultural diversity, genuine motivation to help, and a long-term orientation for finding lasting solutions. You thrive in a dynamic and growing work environment. 

Next to that:

  • Fluency in English and Dutch are a must.
  • You have a BA degree in either Psychology, Human Services, Behavioral Science, or a related field is a must.
  • You are a team-player, but you are also able to work independently. When you find yourself with a question, a good idea or wish to develop yourself: you reach out! 
  • You manage multiple tasks and have the ability to be flexible in switching between them.
  • You are able to maintain user engagement and support in a remote setting.
  • You work solution-focused and you are able to come up with advice for the users in a short period of time. 
  • You are proactive and learn by doing.
  • You are resilient and flexible, able to work in fast paced environments.
  • You have basic computer skills and a keen interest in experimenting with new technologies. 
  • Willingness to explore Artificial Intelligence enhancements for user engagement and support is a strong plus.
  • Experience in a fast paced company is also a strong plus.
  • Experience working in preventive care, psychological consultation, or a clinical setting is strongly preferred. 
  • Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a plus.

  • A part-time contract for 24h per week with the possibility to to extend it to 32h in the future.
  • Option to work remotely, with the requirement to attend our Amsterdam office on specified days.
  • Working hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
