POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.  Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships, and programs, and creates a welcoming environment. Membership Coordinator is expected to act in a manner in line with the YMCA values and within the confines of the information listed above.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implement member service and engagement strategies that support the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members in a welcoming environment. 
  2. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA. 
  3. Lead Member Engagement team members in providing exemplary customer service through building relationships, assisting in reaching personal goals and instilling a sense of belonging. 
  4. Adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  5. Provides shift supervision while working 80% of time as direct service. 
  6. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, development of team members.
  7. Conducts team member feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
  8. Schedules and processes payroll functions.
  9. Supports campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and team members.
  10. Models relationship building in all interactions through Listen First.
  11. Responds to all member and community inquires and/or complaints in a timely manner.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 1 year related experience required.
  2. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
  5. Adept computer skills in Office 365.
  6. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekend, and holidays.  Required to be On-Call with predetermined schedule.
  7. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 1-2 years related experience preferred.
  2. Attend New Employee Orientation and Certified CPR/First Aid/AED within designated time of hire.
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
  6. Adept computer skills in Office 365.
