Location: Colonial Healthcare, a part of Optum - 325 Broad St., Sumter, SC
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. (Employee will need to be flexible on end of shift time if patient(s) is still in office.) / No evenings, weekends, or holidays!

Primary Responsibilities:
- Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
- Administering medications and injections
- Venipuncture for lab draw
- Performing EKGs, Spirometry, Flu and Strep Tests
- Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary
- Saves doctors' time by helping with office procedures
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence and keeping patient information confidential
- Process Referrals
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or completion of an equivalent adult education program
- Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate or certification OR 3+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a medical assistant after on-the-job training
- Active medical assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA or RMA)
- CPR certified upon hire or ability to obtain within 30 days
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of clinical experience in a Family Medicine setting
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT
- Experience with electronic medical record software
- Experience performing medical back office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medications
- Experience performing medical front office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills and referrals
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
