Overview

Edelman is looking for a Media Relations Specialist to join our Corporate Communications team in Bangkok. The candidate we are looking for is a confident self-starter with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Our ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of corporate communications, with a keen understanding of and interest in media relations. Hands-on experience in message development, media outreach and engagement, effective pitching to media, as well as a clear understanding of the ecosystem of social, paid, owned and earned media are a must. We need a strategic, organized, vibrant contributor to our team, who can work seamlessly across account teams and provide excellent client service to help bring our clients’ plans and visions to life.


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:


  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of today’s news and media landscape

  • Manage and build good relationships with press, journalist, and publishers including both traditional & digital media.

  • Explore and nurture opportunities to expand relationship with media across key categories

  • Be an eyes and ears for both agency and clients for any opportunities to support, collaborate and create positive relationships with media

  • Contribute to the development of communications strategies and tactics for clients, including audience and media analysis, media list development, timeline development, etc.

  • Recommend and write media pitch notes. Screen and proof-read communication and press materials

  • Distribute and monitor news coverage from media.

  • Be the center to manage coverage tools to ensure accurate news monitoring for clients

  • Be the point of contact for press invitation for all PR activities i.e. Press Conference, Event, Interview etc.

  • Work closely with integrated teams to ensure quality in client programs and deliverables

  • Effectively work within timeline and account budget parameters

  • Maintain strong internal/external relationships; support fellow team members

Qualifications / Experience Required


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related discipline from an accredited college or university

  • 2-3 years of related experience in internal/external communications, corporate communications and/or media relations

  • Experience with work relating to corporate reputation, issues and/or crisis, corporate internal and/or external communications

  • An understanding of the role of communications and PR agencies. Experience in agency is not a requirement, but considered an advantage

  • Experience working in a multi-project and multi-team environment

  • Strong working knowledge of the media landscape in Thailand

  • Experience with traditional and social media tools and platforms – online monitoring, blogging, Facebook, Twitter, reporting platforms, media database to build media list, etc.

  • Experience effectively executing many tactical assignments and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines

  • Familiarity of CP style writing considered an asset

  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required

  • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving
