Media Relations Manager - 9-month fixed term contract

Workhuman, the pioneer of employee recognition, is hiring an experienced, creative, and proactive PR professional to join our Corporate Communications team. Reporting to the Director, External Comms, the Media Relations Manager supports strategy and development of PR and external comms activities in Ireland and the UK. This person will help drive our brand, product, and thought leadership communications with the goal of managing and improving Workhuman’s reputation, brand awareness and authority externally.

Establishing and nurturing relationships with key journalists in IRE and the UK, and lead inbound requests on a range of issues

Driving Irish media coverage that furthers Workhuman’s key themes and overarching narrative and supports employer brand efforts

Driving UK media coverage that furthers Workhuman’s key themes and overarching narrative and supports sales efforts
-
Collaborating with External Comms team on data storytelling efforts
-
Crafting a calendar and plan for press releases and other PR engagements to communicate company news, achievements, and events effectively. Aligning with Marketing and amplify global campaign messaging.

Securing opportunities to feature employees in the media.

Assisting with paid media opportunities.

Crafting and pitching brand, product, and thought leadership stories across a range of platforms to promote company presence and standing as a Great Place to Work.

Creating briefing documents and talking points for executive and spokesperson media briefings.

Developing and implementing brand awareness campaigns to increase the company’s visibility and enhance its reputation among potential employees in the region.

Supporting with the promotion of Workhuman Live events.

Reporting on wins and outcomes; translate for different audiences.

Partnering with marketing, customer marketing, internal comms, product, analyst, and other teams to ensure media efforts are aligned with larger corporate initiatives.

Assisting with crisis communication as required.

Coaching and supporting senior leaders, including the executive committee/C-suite, and senior executives as spokespersons
The Skills you will bring:
Passion for creative storytelling is key. This person will partner with cross-functional teams across marketing, product, employer brand, internal communications, and other functions to drive external communications that educate key audiences on our technology, principles, customers, and personnel. The ideal candidate should bring a strong mix of strategic and tactical communications experience, with an ability to build, own, and implement successful launches and programs. This person must be able to move fast and collaboratively on a myriad of topics, understand and translate key themes and storylines for media, and bring fresh thinking to modern storytelling across a diverse number of channels. The ideal candidate should:

Bring a solid background of driving media campaigns with a proven track record of high-level media contacts/placements

Have a strong mix of strategic and tactical communications experience, with an ability to build, own, and implement successful launches and programs.

Be able to move fast and collaboratively on a myriad of topics, understand and translate key themes and storylines for media, and bring fresh thinking to modern storytelling across a diverse number of channels.

Be an exceptional communicator who is highly organized, agile, and capable of managing a large volume of competing priorities and demands in a fast- paced environment.

Have strong writing and verbal skills – with the ability to create a wide range of materials, including pitches, press releases, bylines, etc.

Be comfortable managing high-profile, complex stories
-
Have strong analytical skills – with the ability to translate “soft results” into hard numbers that can be shared with leadership teams.

Have top notch collaborative skills, with the ability to work with many people at once and be open to new ideas, suggestions, and “in it to win it” together mentality.
Achievements
-
6+ years in media relations or journalism.
-
PR agency experience is a plus.
-
Must have nose for news.

Enjoys working with media regularly

Willing to travel (as appropriate)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
