About this Marketing Role
The newly formed Media & Innovation team, led by the Head of Media & Innovation and reporting to the Head of Digital Marketing, drives Genentech's paid media strategy and fuels its innovation efforts. The candidate in this role will lead media engagement as a primary liaison with brand teams, driving change management, knowledge sharing, and comprehensive training in media. This individual will engage with brands in special projects and partner closely with XO (Experience Operations) and SAI (Strategic Analytics and Insights) to align on a shared vision, roadmap, and implementation plan.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Lead change management initiatives with brand teams, ensuring a seamless transition to new media strategies, practices, and processes
- Actively engage with each brand to onboard them into media practices.
- Design and deliver comprehensive training materials on media tailored to the specific needs of brand teams, addressing both foundational knowledge and advanced media strategies
- Set engagement KPIs with brand teams with a goal to maximize upskilling and performance in media.
- Build strong partnerships with and seek input from brand marketing to surface needs and opportunities.
- Hold regular office hours for brand teams to offer direct support, answer queries, and assess and fill knowledge gaps.
- Document and report on the health of media engagement and escalate challenges and issues.
- Lead or support special projects, such as indication launches and competitive blunting strategies, ensuring that media is optimized for business impact.
- Work with cross-functional partners in XO, SAI, and USIX as relevant and co-identify capabilities/platforms to be delivered by functional partners and leveraged across marketing.
Who you are:
(Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience)
- You hold a Bachelor's degree
- You hold 8 years minimum work experience, with 6 years working in a marketing role or, an Advanced Degree with 6 years of working experience with 5 years in a marketing role may be considered.
Preferred:
- MBA or other related graduate-level degree preferred
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Experience in working closely with AORs, creating marketing strategies, plans, and tactics that have strengthened market positioning and financial results
- Proven track record in creating strategic recommendations that drive impact for the organization.
- Strong data proficiency with deep understanding of data strategy, technology, and platforms
- Ability to drive a data-driven media practice, focus on metrics that matter, and drive business performance forward without unnecessary complexity and overanalysis
- Expertise in all aspects of Product Marketing to include positioning, branding, campaign development and channel mix
- Deep knowledge of each customer type e.g. HCPs, patients, payers, IDNs, distributors, pathways and how they run their business
- Ability to think with an enterprise mindset
- Ability to flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformational change
Location
- This position is based in South San Francisco, CA

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $182,200 - $338,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
