Media and Communication Officer

The Jamil Nyanga Jaward Foundation seeks a dedicated part-time media and communications officer to support its communication and media activities under the MOU with the Mastercard Associate Program. The Media and communications officer manages media relations, creates and shares communication content, and promotes the foundation's programs such as the upcoming Lunch on Sale and ensures consistent, professional messaging across all platforms, while also promoting the foundation's programs, achievements, and public image.

Key responsibilities

·       Manage and engage the organization's website and post daily project activities

·       Respond to comments and updates daily. 

·       Develop and implement communication strategies to promote organizational activities. Design and facilitate the production of IEC materials like posters, flyers, banners, social media graphics, and so on. 

·       Coordinate media engagements like preparing media bookings or press briefings. 

·       Liaise with stakeholders and media houses

·       Attend stakeholder meetings to coordinate launches. 

·       Plan for launches and public awareness campaigns.

·       Capture, edit and publish photos, videos, and other digital content. 

·       Make sure all content aligns with the organization's objectives and identity. 

·       Maintain an archive of photos, videos, and IEC materials. 

Requirement

·       A degree or diploma in mass communication, journalism, public relations

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Strong writing and editing ability

·       Social media management experience

·       Basic photo and video skills are an advantage

·       The ability to build relationships with media houses and stakeholders

·       Good organizational skills

·       Attention to details

·       Creativity

·       Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
