Job Description Summary

Responsible for supporting plant controls and automation teams in developing, maintaining, and improving automated manufacturing systems. This role provides hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control systems, and industrial automation technologies used in a production environment. The intern will work closely with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment, optimize processes, and assist with automation projects that drive efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Job Description:

  • Assist in the development, programming, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, servo, motion control, and robotic systems.
  • Work alongside the Controls Engineering team to support and improve plant automation systems.
  • Monitor automation equipment performance and address issues impacting production operations.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment and process-related problems and assist in corrective actions.
  • Support the development and execution of solutions for emerging automation challenges
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in testing, commissioning, and validation activities for automation projects.
  • Document automation system updates, troubleshooting activities, and project improvements.

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Computer Engineering, with an anticipated graduation date of 2028.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
  • Ability to work with industrial robotic systems, including Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, KUKA, or similar platforms.

Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
