We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our project delivery team delivering hybrid power on a major mine development project in regional Queensland. This is a site-based role working a 2/1 roster, with travel arranged from Brisbane.
Reporting to the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of mechanical works packages, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.

What you’ll do as Mechanical Project Engineer;
- Manage and coordinate mechanical scope of works, including structural/mechanical infrastructure installation, piping, generators and associated fuel systems. Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines (civil, electrical etc.)
- Review and interpret mechanical design documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate subcontractors and mechanical trades to ensure works are delivered safely, on program, and to specification
- Prepare and manage mechanical work packages, including scopes of work, procurement, and construction schedules
- Liaise with client representatives, engineers, designers and other project stakeholders
- Monitor and report on progress, cost, and quality against project targets
- Identify and manage project risks, variations, and changes in scope
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including liaison with commissioning engineers
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, engineering codes, and site-specific HSE requirements
- Contribute to the development of construction methodologies and ITPs for mechanical works
- Participate in site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and incident investigations as required
You are:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Degree or Advanced Diploma)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical project engineering role within construction, mining, or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience delivering fixed plant, structural/mechanical, or piping installation works on greenfield or brownfield sites desirable.
- Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and mechanical safety requirements (lifting, pressure equipment, isolation procedures)
- Experience working with EPC or construction contractors on resource sector projects highly regarded
- Proficient in MS Office and document control systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Valid driver's license; willingness to travel and work FIFO/DIDO on a 2/1 roster initially (subject to change).
- Current Construction Induction (White Card); mine-specific site inductions can be completed prior to start
