Northrop Grumman is seeking Mechanical Design Engineer Level 2/3 to join our team based out of Sunnyvale, Ca. The Marine Systems organization, part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, is searching for Mechanical Design Engineers in support of both the manufacturing and installation of Launcher Hardware.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices
- Identify procurement needs and support fabrication
- Provide assembly checkout and test support
- Drive issue resolutions both onsite and with vendors
- Coordinating and collaborating with various disciplines to quickly resolve issues
The qualified candidate will possess the following skills:
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
Swing Shift – 1:00pm – 9:00pm Mon – Fri
*Specific Hours may be shifted but the focus is supporting the evening hours
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 2 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 0 years relevant work experience.
- Experience in machine design and drawing generation
- Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Familiar with PLM systems
- Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 3 years relevant work experience.
- Experience in machine design and drawing generation
- Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Familiar with PLM systems
- Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
- Experience in resolving manufacturing non-conformances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in ASME Y14.5 GD&T Standard and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and Engineering Drawing Practices
- Experience in production support such as troubleshooting, RCCA, and resolving production issues
- Strong background in machine design, strength of materials, and materials technology
- Experience in technical presentation
- Experience in developing continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience in working with vendors and suppliers
- Experience working in a low volume high precision manufacturing environment
- System Engineering experience
- Proven ability to drive resolutions under tight time constraints independently
- An active US Government Secret clearance
