DTNA (Daimler Trucks North America) is the world's largest heavy duty vehicle manufacturer, we design the Freightliner and Western Star brands for markets in North America, Latin America, Australia, South Africa, and many other parts of the world.The Frameworks Pneumatics group is a member of the Product Engineering Department and works to develop and design air creation and distribution systems, and the architecture that supports air and wiring harnesses across the vehicle chassis.
The duties of this position focus on design of mechanical components. Opportunity exists as well to broaden into system responsibility that includes cross-disciplined involvement into CPU design, software, and network messaging. This position is within the compressed air supply team and its duties focus on design of air dryers, discharge lines, and compressor control piping and pneumatic circuitry.

What You Drive at DTNA
• Develop vehicle components and systems. Apply engineering and CAD principles to create designs that are reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, and competitive.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to perform custom engineering work and to support the manufacturing plants, quality assurance, and the service dept.
• Develop concepts to support future vehicles projects. Maintain and organize these solutions, document their use, and keep them up to date.
• Interface with our multi-tier suppliers and other groups such as Validation, Analysis, Compliance, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations.
• Align and diagnose Service input to Support our customer daily firsthand vehicle operation experience.
Knowledge You Should Bring
• Bachelors Degree (Mechanical Engineering, or related fields) and 0-2 years of relevant experience, OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience with CADD software. Experience in CADD design of structures and/or design of pneumatic solutions.
• An understanding of the principles of fluid mechanics as it relates to pneumatics, moisture, and related thermodynamics.
• An attached resume is required.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
• Experience with manufacturing processes, MRP systems, and coding for design solutions (VBA, MatLab, etc)
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including air compressors, air dryers, and pneumatic tubing and fittings
• Training in basic control systems design
• Experience with component specifications, and industry safety practices.
• Strong independence in managing multiple assigned projects.
