Join us as a Mechanical/System Technical Staff, Engineering Technologist on our Custom Design and Emerging Technology team in Austin, Texas to do the best work of your career.  The Custom Design and Emerging Technology team is focused on delivering next generation technologies through innovative solutions.  If you have a passion for solving customer problems from the IT hardware to the data center this is the right team for you.

What you’ll achieve

As a Mechanical/System Technical Staff, Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for developing next generation data center infrastructure solutions at the server, rack, and data center level.  You will work closely with DELL CTO, sales teams, and customers to develop data center solutions.  These solutions include next generation technologies for mechanical, direct liquid cooling, thermals, and power.   

You will:

  • Manage multiple programs at once, some at the customer solution level, others supporting new technology initiatives

  • Develop system solutions from Compute to Customer Data Center; design, develop, and implement cost effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems

  • Demonstrate engineering rigor and leadership across various disciplines, mechanical, power, and thermals

  • Work with internal cross-functional teams, ODMs, and suppliers; present often to Dell leadership and external customers

  • 15+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a master’s degree

  • Experience solving complex thermal / mechanical problems from the IT hardware level to the data center level

  • Customer facing experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills presenting to leadership and customers

  • Efficient in the use of CAD and various simulation software

  • Deep knowledge of hardware and software interactions, and ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues quickly and effectively; deep knowledge of Rack form factors, specifications, and industry standards

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $203k - $248k.
