Department Overview
The Mechanical Design team focuses on evaluating and developing project requirements at the initiation stage to formulate a comprehensive project plan, timeline, and budget, while integrating feedback from the cross-functional team to develop products.
Position Responsibilities
Design & develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
Develop DFMEA and PFMEA’s for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
Participate in peer-to-peer design reviews and provide critical feedback to colleagues.
Create and manage SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
Manage top level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost reduction design actions.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently a student earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Must be graduating between May 2026 and August 2027
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance as it related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter and desire to learn new things.
An entrepreneurial spirit is essential.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple project and priorities.
Professional & collaborative – comfortable working closely with a team.
Excellent SolidWorks CAD knowledge.
Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
