The Mechanical Engineer – HVAC/Chillers will support the mechanical design implementation, local (regional) procurement of components, local assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of customized industrial chiller systems. The role requires close coordination with the headquarters Engineering team in Europe and with the local Procurement, Production and Testing teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality execution of mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Interpretation & Localization
o Review 3D models, 2D mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and BOMs provided by the HQ Technical Office in Europe.
o Identify and address gaps and inconsistencies in design documentation.
o Adapt mechanical designs to suit local manufacturing processes and available materials, where applicable and subject to HQ approval.
Technical Support to Production
o Provide on-site technical support to the production team during assembly of key components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, piping, structures, etc.
o Act as the technical liaison between the HQ Engineering team and the local Production team to resolve mechanical queries and issues.
Manufacturing Documentation & Drawing Control
o Prepare and maintain updated fabrication drawings, exploded views, and assembly instructions for use by Production and Quality Control teams.
o Coordinate change requests with HQ to update formal design documents and revisions.
Design for Local Supply Chain Integration
o Review mechanical designs to identify parts or materials that can be sourced locally without compromising quality or function.
o Coordinate with the Procurement team and HQ to evaluate and approve equivalent local components.
o Maintain documentation and traceability for approved substitutions.
Support to Testing and Commissioning
o Assist the Testing team during system startup and performance evaluation of the assembled machines.
o Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues such as misalignments, leaks, vibration, or component malfunctions.
Quality and Standards Compliance
o Ensure all mechanical assemblies conform to applicable standards (ASHRAE, ISO, PED, etc.) and internal quality requirements.
o Participate in quality reviews and contribute to improvement of mechanical design and assembly processes.
Communication & Coordination
o Communicate effectively with the HQ Technical Office in Europe regarding design modifications, technical clarifications, and engineering feedback.
o Proactively provide feedback on recurring issues, assembly constraints, and opportunities for design improvement.
